Create Studio

This page explains how Create Studio is planned to work. Nothing on it accepts, generates or checks project work in Stage 1.

Three separate modes

Practice

Planned

Low-stakes projects for building skills: planning, coding, testing and explaining. Teachers may give detailed feedback.

Official Create Work

Later stage

A separate space for the student’s own Create performance task work, with the guardrails required by current College Board policy on teacher assistance.

Exam Practice

Planned

Practice answering written-response style prompts about a program, using sample programs rather than official work.

What students eventually prepare

  • Program code

    The program the student develops.

  • Video

A video demonstrating the program running.

  • Personalized Project Reference

Selected code segments the student takes into the exam for the written response.

Official work is submitted through the AP Digital Portfolio, which is the only official submission destination. CSP Lab will not submit on a student’s behalf.

No project submission or validation

Stage 1 does not accept official work, generate projects, choose reference screenshots or check work against College Board policy. The sample lab is practice and is not described as “Create ready”.

Always follow current directions

Requirements can change each year. Students and teachers should rely on the current College Board directions linked below.
