F25 · Topic 5.1

Innovation stakeholder inquiry

Evaluate a fictional first-come online booking service using stakeholder evidence, then compare benefits, harms and a targeted revision.

1. Predict first

Online-only booking produces instant sorted lists, but limited places fill 7–8 pm when some students work or lack connectivity. Predict one benefit and one harm with named stakeholders.

Change it · step through · explain

Change an input, predict what will happen, then advance one step. Read why the state changes, reset and experiment. This fixed teaching model does not save progress or award XP.

Ready · Make a prediction

Ready to experiment

Why: Predict the first change, then advance one step.

Try this: Compare all three policies. Which barrier does each change, and which remains?

2. Build your procedure

Compare online-only with a hybrid booking policy in a stakeholder table. Specify a requirement for fairness across channels and one cost of the revision.

Use AP CSP pseudocode, a language you know, or precise plain language. Your code is not executed here. Use the classroom assignment to save your response.

3. Check boundaries

Public worked tests for the fixed model
InputExpectedWhy this case
online-onlyFast lists; time/connectivity barriers remainBenefits and harms can coexist.
hybrid with one allocation ruleAlternative participation route; reconciliation costA targeted mitigation has a trade-off.
device-onlyMore device access; timing/connectivity barriers may remainAn intervention can address only part of the mechanism.

4. Explain and reflect

What evidence would let you evaluate the revision without assuming that more total sign-ups means everyone benefited?

Model limits: Compares stated fictional policies. It does not decide real student eligibility, prove fairness or predict school outcomes.
